We were in Portland last week and had lunch with my cousin and her Dr. husband. Dave was leaving for Haiti on Saturday for 10 days. This is something he has done for the last 5 years. He was describing the conditions and how an advance team arrives to set up the facility with medications, etc. and notifies the public when Dave and his team will be arriving and ready to accept patients. It struck me how lucky we are to have such a wonderful country even though we have problems. Our blessing is we had people who created a wonderful document, The Constitution, and many who have fought to protect the system they created. We also have others who, though they haven't served in the military, are willing to serve in public office
