I know everyone was surprised about the decision yesterday by the Supreme Court. In our household there was no surprise because my husband, legal scholar and constitutional authority, Allen, called it about a month ago.

I wanted to play today, but instead I am working on projects for the Park View East Homeowners' Association. Several of us met with a representative of Idaho Power in an effort to find ways to reduce our electric bill for this complex. There are incentive programs being offered for which we may qualify. If so, we could significantly reduce our costs. Many of our residents are on fixed incomes and our newly seated board which I was elected president, are anxious to find savings to pass along on the association fees.....particularly in these tough times.

Back in town from visiting my grandsons (and their parents) in Alaska, and seeing my son graduate with his masters in Kansas City..,..along with sharing time with his little family. It was a wonderful 10 days, but there is little time to rest before getting back in the throws of real life.
Looking forward to when my web site goes live so I can give you all updates on my Senate campaign.
Off to Alive after Five.

Beautiful day today. I'm packing for my trip to see those grandsons and then on to Kansas City to visit the granddaughters. I don't need but one suitcase for me, but it is the sweet bing cherries and fresh corn that is going to take up the room. You know those cherries are the best and the fresh corn on the cob is out of sight and for Alaska folks a real treat. We'll gladly trade for salmon.

We were Portland last week and had lunch with my cousin and her Dr. husband. He told us he was leaving for Haiti for the 5th time, I believe he said, and helps out for 10 days every year. They have an advance team which sets up the facility and makes sure all of the medications are there and announce when Dave and his team mates are going to arrive. It was so interesting talking with him. We are a very lucky people and are blessed to have as much as we do and a constitution which provides a framework for the people to achieve.

We were in Portland last week and had lunch with my cousin and her Dr. husband. Dave was leaving for Haiti on Saturday for 10 days. This is something he has done for the last 5 years. He was describing the conditions and how an advance team arrives to set up the facility with medications, etc. and notifies the public when Dave and his team will be arriving and ready to accept patients. It struck me how lucky we are to have such a wonderful country even though we have problems. Our blessing is we had people who created a wonderful document, The Constitution, and many who have fought to protect the system they created. We also have others who, though they haven't served in the military, are willing to serve in public office

I just inspected our building as the new President of the Association. Wow! we have work to do. But I enjoy a great board and an engaged association so it goes back to that old saying, "Many hands make quick work." I'm looking forward to making our "home" clean, safe, and a good investment for all of us living here.
